I have been doing a Women’s Bible Study at my church this fall, and we are studying the Psalms. I have loved it . . . and, this was one of the Psalms that was read in our first week together. When reading it, I could not help but think of our nest and the ways that God has graciously and generously provided for and protected our little, growing family!
Psalm 84:3
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
There are many, many things that I love about Anna’s nursery. I neglected to take pictures of the boys’ nursery before putting them in it, so I wanted to be sure to take pictures of Anna’s before the joyful chaos ensues! :) There are so many people who have helped me with random details in this room . . . I am so grateful—thank you! Here are a few of our favorite things . . .
Our Sugie ran all over town to help me pick out fabric and Aunt Katie had the bumper pad and cushions made . . . I love them!
Our Nonna hand made the crib skirts! So adorable!
(I adore this picture of Anna’s brothers, you know!)
This was the rocker that was in my nursery as a little girl—so sweet! I had my eye on the print when doing the boys’ nursery—it is a perfect fit in Anna’s room! And, you can see “Anna’s Bunny,” which has already been well-loved by her brothers who like to sit on it and bounce and then cover the bunny in kisses. I have a hunch that we may have another animal chair (or two) in our near future . . .
This curtain panel with ruffle was a major labor of love! My friend Stephanie patiently talked me through how to make it (over the phone and LATE at night!) . . . it took hours and hours, but I just love it. Stephanie also helped me make the curtains in the nursery (you can see a tiny part of them in the first picture—my lens and the tiny room made it hard to capture it all!) . . . what a sweet, sweet friend (especially if you know anything about me, my sewing skills, and my inevitable lack of patience!)
It has been so much fun preparing Anna’s nest and imagining what life will be like with her as a part of our family. I was telling someone today that I know she will be such a blessing to us all . . . and I am thrilled to see the ways that having Hudson and William as big brothers blesses her too. This is going to be so much fun! (And, please, Lord, let this baby sleep well!)
According to my doctor, Baby Anna is as snug as a bug and all curled up in the front of my belly. I am “carrying huge,” but he thinks she is tiny . . . maybe a little over 6 lbs. We’ll see! He also said that she is enjoying the palace that her brothers created for her and shows no signs of coming on her own. That said, Baby Anna will be here on Monday morning, if not sooner! OH MY!!

Love the nursery! It's the perfect nest for your sweet Anna. Can't wait to see pictures once she's here.
oh Anna is such a lucky girl. Can't wait to see her notice herself in her mirror just above the changing table... even Charles loves seeing that cute baby in the mirror!
Love you sistah - this nursery should be in a magazine!!! xoxoxoxox
We're ready for you, Baby Anna, we're ready!
Love,
Aunt Katie, Uncle B, & Soon-to-Be Not-Baby Charlie
Shannon, you are so talented. and loving. and thoughtful. The unique touches in the nursery are absolutely perfect. I too love the picture of the boys--they will be watching over her in more ways than one. Know that I am thinking of you all and praying for you and Anna and your boys. I will especially be praying on Monday--I can't believe that it is already here! Before long, you will be able to look at sweet Anna every day and enjoy her presence in your lives. What a blessing! Lots of love to you all!
Is it weird for me to miss her even before I meet her?!!! Oh, dearest Anna, your friend Gracie can't wait to meet you and show you the ropes of being an October girl!
