Dear Friday, Oh, how I love thee! I woke up tired today after a night of having two two year olds in my bed until mid-night, and I haven’t gotten much done today despite my list of to-dos. We’ve had a very full week, and a lot of sadness (from the boys) about Daddy working every day, which leaves us all tired but VERY THANKFUL for FRIDAY!
Before naps, this is what I heard:
William: Mommy, you frustraiting’d? You frustraiting’d for me?
Me: No, William, I am tired.
William: Mommy, you frustraiting’d for Hudson?
Me: No, William, I am just tired. (laughing)

Yesterday, I was talking to a friend at the front door, and I heard a noise and turned to find that my tiny elves were hard at work helping me unload the dishwasher. I feel thankful that they did not touch any of the knives and that my little plate did not slide off the edge of the dishwasher and smash onto their toes on the floor:

And, a few more overheards:
Yesterday at breakfast:
W: Mommy, are you sad? you sad mommy? Why you say “hmmmpfff”
Me: (after running back and forth from the dining room to the kitchen 47 times before 8:30am) Laughing--No, buddy, I am just tired!
***
H: That not kind, Wee-yum! That not kind!
(And, I don’t remember what the offense was, but Hudson was right—it wasn’t kind!)
***
Me: Mommy asked you not to do that two different times, and you didn’t listen. I am going to have to give you a spanking.
H: Okay, Mommy. How many?
(This is my life!)

A friend talking to Hudson: Hudson, are you going to eat the lunch your mommy made you?
Hudson: Yes. Mommy a good maker and cooker.
(OH MY HEART!)

This morning, this happened without any prompting, and I felt my eyes just fill with tears—the Lord is at work in my boys teaching them to ask for forgiveness. I am amazed:
W: I sorry, Mommy. I sorry I no listening to you.
Oh, these boys! They are so precious, and have so much energy and so many things that they need to do all by themselves (I do it! Me do it! Me do it myself! I do it me-self! NO HELP ME!) and that they need to say, and say, again! I just adore them. I love them so much, and when I stop and think, I realize how much of a joy it is to be able to watch them grow and learn and think about things and express themselves. And, at the end of a very full week, I am so thankful for a weekend ahead with Daddy at my side!
As I am typing this, Sissy Loulabelle has just woken from her nap, thrown her paci overboard and is saying “UH OH! UH OHH! UH OHHH!” I’m off to rescue Sis and her paci . . . Here’s to a wonderful weekend ahead!
