Memorial Day Weekend: Pop Pop, the Rivah, and a deck update!

Two Saturdays ago, we had an impromptu visit from Pop Pop! We were able to have dinner together and he joined us for our evening baby wrangling ritual (aka: putting on pjs!). The boys LOVED playing with their Pop Pop, and Sunday morning, William woke up asking for him! Too cute!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++On Sunday, we headed to Aunt Beth and Uncle Richard’s River House! We had SO much fun!

Hatch calls these outfits the boys “resort wear” {thank you, Aunt Katie!} . . . ha ha ha . . . they had done some playing in the pool and taken naps, so it was snack time!

I like to call this the snack train!

While we loved looking at the river, the main attraction this year was the “TRUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!” The boys could not stay away!

I feel certain that Hudson would have smiled here, had he not just crammed an entire cracker into his mouth!

And, lastly, on Monday, our good friend, Kyle, helped Daddy and Bumpa (and Jonathan) begin work on the deck! Way to go, guys! So exciting! Our littlest builders watched with anticipation from the window!

Oh Boy, Oh Boy, Oh . . .

WE’RE HAVING A GIRL!

That’s right!  We are thrilled to share that we are being blessed with another little bundle of love!  We had our big doctor’s visit today to find out that the baby is growing well and moving around like crazy.  We are so grateful to Jesus for the ways that He is providing for us and our little one!  We saw our little sweet pea yawn and wiggle . . . and we were able to see all of the amazing things that the ultrasound shows . . . tiny fingers and toes, four chambers to the heart, two kidneys, and a sweet little face. 

When it was time to find out the gender, Hatch and I both looked at the ultra sound screen and were able to guess that she was a girl . . . we were right!  How fun!  Hudson and William (who, much to  my dismay, turned 18 months old yesterday!) will be such wonderful big brothers!  William has even been practicing saying “girl, girl, girl!” and, they point to their belly or mine when we ask where the baby is . . . too cute!  We are so thankful for the great, healthy report about our newest little bean!

And, for comparison’s sake, this was me at 14 weeks with Hudson and William!  (reminder:  I was still in the throes of MAJOR morning sickness at this point!)

Strawberry Saturday!

We had a great day as a family on Saturday . . . we hit the tail end of the picking, but we were still able to pick a few tasty strawberries!  The boys had a great time . . . William mainly smooshed his berries, but Hudson did a great job of picking and putting them in the box.  Both boys have been screaming “Berries!  Berries” at each meal this week (Hudson asked me for some just this morning!)—they love them, and these fresh berries are SO tasty!

Each morning last week, William would wake up and say “Dada?”  I would say “Dada is at work” and he would say “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, Dada.”  So, Saturday was super-fun since it started off a long weekend with Dada around!

They say that the blueberries will be ready for picking in just a few weeks!  Oh, how fun!                 

Mommy’s Little Cooks!

Today after our nap, we made more “nola bars.”  The boys have been on a sandwich strike of late, so we have been eating many homemade granola bars at lunchtime.  William, especially, is a huge fan!  We ran out yesterday, so we did some afternoon baking today to replenish our supply!

The boys took turns adding the different ingredients to the bowl.  Hudson kept yelling “MORE!  MORE!” after his turn.  The babes are really learning the concept of mixing . . . William chants “mix, mix, mix!” over and over!  I gave them their own bowls and spatulas to use while I finalized our tasty treat!
