Oh, Daddy!

I think we have said this before, but our favorite time of day is when Daddy comes home . . .

Hudson and William had a great time with their Daddy this week!

Hudson’s favorite books are a book {appropriately} called “Haatch,” and a Karen Katz lift-the-flap book called “My Daddy and Me” {it’s about building a dog house with daddy}, and a book about “Thumper” {hilarious, I know}.  This book, however, has become a recent fave due to the movable flaps:

After another day {Wednesday} in the house because of the snow, I took the boys out to play on Thursday!  If you open the front door without taking the boys outside, they BOO HOO when you close the door!!  It is hilarious and sad all at once!

Then, we got tired of being in the swing . . . {Mommy is too slow}

Because it wasn’t dinner time yet and daddy wasn’t home yet, we decided to play on the porch . . .

Champions!

Since Bumpa is a loyal University of Richmond Spider, he just had to sign up “his boys” for the Baby Race Half-time show at last week’s game vs. Temple. Hudson was teetering on the edge with the walking instead of crawling (which is clearly a disqualifying action in a baby crawling race), but it was a GREAT, fun time . . . not to mention a fantastic excuse to get out of the house on yet another SNOWY weekend!

We got the boys’ numbers . . .

And Bumpa and Uncle J were our wonderful assistants at the starting line (ie: the foul line)

Then, they were off!

Then, they stopped and looked all around at everyone in the stadium. (We have no pictures of this, because we were ALL screaming their names and waving our tempting Ritz Crackers proudly in the air at them to taunt them to motivate, again!)

But, they didn’t cry! (That poor baby in the background!)

We thought William was at the VERY end of the line . . . looking around more than crawling . . . but, he started to move . . .

And, Mommy was not paying attention to the rules (the babies had to cross the half-court line) and she gave Hudson a cracker too early. When she realized what she had done, she took it back, and he said “enough of this!” and stood up and walked across the line and gobbled up the cracker . . . thereby disqualifying himself. (Hudson, you would have placed, had you not stood. I take full responsibility for misleading you, my love! And, I hate to say it, but I think that you come by your eagerness for food quite honestly!)

But, Daddy was smoother with the tempting, and he was able to get William to cross the line, and much to our EXCITEMENT (and shock!), William won Third place! He is our Bronze Medal winner! And, they say that we will receive a $50 gift card to Ukrops anyday now . . . Way to go, William! Here’s to all of the applesauce and cheerios your gift card can buy!

We were excited to have so much family there to support our boys in their very first race. (ha ha ha)

This next series makes me laugh . . . Hudson’s reach seems endless.  Every time we think we’ve moved “everything” out of his reach, he grabs something new!

And, this one is so funny to me, because my favorite childhood hangout was inside of my Nana’s kitchen cabinet {and, yes: there was food in there!}
